Juvedérm

JUVEDÉRM XC is an non surgical FDA-approved treatment that helps eliminate lines and wrinkles often accompanying the aging process. Juvederm is a dermal filler used to instantly smooth and revitalize the skin, leaving the face looking young and fresh. The look continues to improve for 1-2 weeks as the Juvederm softens and draws moisture into the area.  The older we get, the less natural hyaluronic acid (HA) is produced, which is essential for maintaining smooth skin. Juvederm uses HA to restore the youthful appearance in a healthy and safe way for as long as 12 months.

Juvederm has all but replaces collagen as a filler. It’s smoother than collagen making it much easier to shape and sculpt with. Lumpiness and irregular contours are much less likely with Juvederm. Juvederm also lasts more than three times as long as collagen. Compared with Restylane, the other HA filler, Juvederm is softer and feels more natural. Most patients who have had both prefer Juvederm and say that it feels softer and more natural. Juvederm is also FDA-approved to last up to one year – about twice as long as Restylane.

What can I expect from a Juvederm and Juvederm Voluma procedure?

 A quick and simple 10-15-minute procedure consisting of a few tiny injections where results are typically seen in days and continue to improve during the first two weeks after the treatment. 

Anesthesia is rarely required, because the needles are so small. You can expect to experience very minimal and brief discomfort, even for those of us with a strong aversion to needles.

BOTOX® Cosmetic and JUVÉDERM® are two possible ways to treat moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles. Both are non-surgical, but they work differently:

  • BOTOX® Cosmetic: Injected beneath the skin’s surface to target the underlying muscle activity which is one of the causes of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet. BOTOX®Cosmetic temporarily reduce the activity of those muscles.
  • JUVÉDERM® XC: Injected into the skin to temporarily smooth moderate to severe wrinkles such as those around the nose and mouth.*
